Sound:
I will get right to the point ! I dont care how much you want to spend on a snare drum, or what "fancy apointments" it has on it ( which has nothing to do with sound, which should be the first concern ) This Ludwig Black Magic is the sweetest sounding snare I have ever heard, ever ! I own the 6-1/2 x 14 model, its incredibly deep sounding, its got a crack that sound like a close range gun shot, its got articulation, a wide tuning range and I could go on and on. This is a huge homerun for ludwig, they absolutly got it right ! Brass is the "Magic" obviously, nothing like it but with the diecast hoops and tube lugs it all comes together just awesome! I own 3 Black Panthers, a brass, a steel and a maple, the steel is the 2010 new model, they cant even touch this drum, it blows them away!
Feature:
The only little tiny issue and im picking really is that I think for a drum like this they could have upgraded the strainer but its easily done on your own and the stock one works well enough it just feels a bit cheapish.
Quality:
The drum is well built and acually quite good looking! once you take it out of the box it just looks awesome! Just a mean looking snare that says it means buisness!
Value:
The sound this drum has would make it worth twice as much ! side by side with a Black beuty you cant really tell a difference in sound, its worth every penny there selling for
The Wow Factor:
Ifr your looking for the baddest, loudest most awesome snare drum you ever heard, then yes you want this drum ! its awesome for Classic rock and 80s metal styles and versatile enough for everything eles, just get it already and stop looking its right here trust me! this drum is fantastic!
Overall:
I am going to grab another one soon, the 8x14 I think, that must be godzilla ! Im very very happy and my search is over !
