"Chicks dig it."
Feature:
There are 3 things I don't like. 1) The karaoke voice eliminator is, well... The cheering squad had this to say: "Gimme a C! Gimme an R! Gimme an A! Gimme a P! What's that smell?" It's unimpressive on a good day. My thought... that's what CD-G's are for, anyway. No biggie - the one "feature" I won't use. 2) I'll be adding an external equalizer - the 5 channels just don't give me the control (particularly over the DJ side) that I am looking for. Does it work? Yes, and nicely, but I am more exacting. For now, it is doing well. 3) Might have liked individual control by channel of highs, mids and lows rather than just highs and lows. Still, if I had it to do all over again, this little dude has everything else beat hands-down. I looked and played very hard before I invested. I knew well ahead of time that I was not going to be disappointed.
Quality:
Although semi-permanently mounted in an SKB gig rig, I don't wory about this thing at all. Nothing cheesy on this - sliders and knobs all smooth and stable, all connections reliable and tight despite set up and take down from venue to venue. I don't purposefully abuse it, or anything, but I don't baby it either.
Value:
Can't be beat. Looking into building a second rig - business is good - and won't look at anything else for a mixer. Is it the best thing since sliced bread for every application? Doubt it. For what I need it for, it's awesome.
Desirability:
In the immortal words of Chris Cagle... "Chicks Dig It." Seriously. More people drool over the setup than I would have ever guessed. It's not the only component, but what the heck is sexy about an amp compared to a mixer? All semi-joking aside, anyone who has a clue about sound equipment tries to spend a little time trying to see what I have "under the hood" - most tuck tail and slink away.
Sound:
Mackie does it best. Everything is seamless and smooth (if it is turned on in the correct order, of course... but we all know that).
Support:
The guys at Mackie are friggin' awesome. If I could rate the support higher than 10, I would, and in today's world, I was astounded. I got through fairly quickly, and I must've spent no less than 2 hours in active conversation with the tech support team before I ever bought a single component. I had wiring diagrams lined out for every piece of my rig and knew exactly what I needed to do with every feature of this thing before I spent a dime.
Overall:
If I needed to set up another rig (or if I had it all to do over again), this would be the first thing I would buy. I had considered the 6-channel version. Glad I spent the extra $50 and went with the 12 - would have been sorely restricted.
