Mackie HD1531 3-Way 15" Powered Loudspeaker Customer Review
Sound:
A breath of fresh air. Lots of lows despite the smaller cab. Very clear vocals without the added brightness i've experienced with other powered speakers of this type. Could be lighter, but for an all wood box, I'll deal with the few extra pounds.
Feature:
This 3-way sits on a pole/stand. I don't need to fly it, but the fact that I could is cool. 3-band EQ on the back is not as good as an outboard 31-band. For the money it gets really loud without sounding harsh. All the right features and capabilities for my needs.
Ease of Use:
Plug and play. If it needs tweaking, use the EQ on the back, or better yet an outboard graphic EQ. But quite an amazing starting point in terms of sound. And it gets really loud.
Quality:
No cosmetic defects. All wood is good. Very professional. No cheap plastic tops and bottoms like some others. It's a Mackie so should last forever.
Manufacturer Support:
No reason to contact support yet. Hopefully I won;t need to ever.
Value:
More power and louder, better sound, and more professional looking that anything else at this price.
The Wow Factor:
Black hides well - even the blue LED on the front can be turned of so people see me, not my speakers. I had JBL PRXs before but these dont distort like them, and they go louder, so my band sounds better which means the girls like me even more. Isnt that what its all about in the end?
Overall:
Untuil someone tops these for a better price, I'll be happy with my HDs for a long time.
