"if you're looking for Quality Sound, Durability, speakers that are easy to transport...BUY MACKIE!!!"
Feature:easy to transport if you use the ballistic nylon carrying cases.
Quality:
one word...Bulletproof yet Beautiful
Value:
i shopped around here in Denver, i did not use the Internet. i feel i got a great deal...but then you gotta consider i paid $3000.00 for the entire portable DJ system.
Desirability:
"sex appeal huh?"... WELL, i get an erection every time i fire up my Mackie 450s. they sound great even when played VERY LOUD, GREAT CLARITY, NO DISTORTION! VERY DURABLE! BULLETPROOF! OH, OH! ALMOST FORGOT TO MENTION THE INTERNAL AMPS.
Sound:
I owned mackie srm 450s for five years now...flawless performance and fidelity.
Ease of Use:
i've only set this dj system one way, it works very well. i plan to try connecting othe sound sources (computers, tv, etc.)
Support:
knock on wood... i've never had a problem so i haven't contacted them. the music store i purchased these 450s has gone out of business, which was sort of distressing to me.
Overall:
dust can be difficult to remove which is the only "problem" from my perspective. i had very large Pioneer speakers before, but i plan to buy two more Mackie 450s when i can afford to do so.

"My Friends are Jealous"
Feature:It would be nice to have a little mini mixer on board like some competing products, but chances are that I would never use it as such. Since this is a powered speaker, the amp and the drivers are perfectly matched. You will be suprised and the sound levels this cab puts out. I recently attended an outdoor party around a local hotel's pool. It was a small band running these speakers with an mackie mixer and JBL Eon 10" as floor monitors. They rocked and the speakers showed no sign of strain, fatigue, or distortion.
Quality:
Quite frankly, if you drop this speaker the housing my crack at the seam and break off. My first shipment was apparently dropped by FedEx and there were peices of the housing which shattered during shipment. This is only cosmetic, but it was interesting that both speakers sustained damage in the area along the seam. I would expect pro gear that is designed for the road to be able to hold up better when they are shipped in factory packaging.
Value:
They are slightly pricey for powered 12' cabs, but I think the sound of these little 12" justifies their price. You can pay less, but you will not get a better sounding 12" powered speaker for less
Desirability:
It's not heavy for a powered speaker, not as unsightly as some other PA speakers and the little blue "power on" light shouts "notice me" in dimly lit venues.
Sound:
These really are great speakers. I use them for karoake and the midrange presence is excellent. Since most of vocals are in the midrange frequencies, these speakers excel in this application. They can seem a little bright for some tastes, but you can equalize that out if you find the higher frequencies to be too pronounced or harsh. The SRM-450 is also a great floor monitor. It's a little pricey for a KJ to use in this fashion, but your signers will appreciate it.
Support:
I have very little experience with Mackie Support. I did email them about the less than satisfactory shipping packaging and my dismay about the speakers sustaning damage during shipment. They responded quickly and advised that most speakers reach their destination in good condition.
Overall:
I expect to use these for many years to come. Eventually, I may add a Mackie sub.

"If you are attracted to portability ease of installation etc.then this product is for you, maybe they could be for entertaining t"
Feature:Amplifier built in.
Sound:
For vocals i found these speakers harsh, this was mostly evident in the higher frequency.Natural sound of vocals were changed by an uncompromising and machined eq.Instrumental sounds were good with inteligence, clarity etc. This was not the sound i was after especially for vocals, portability and hassle free proved no compromise.HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARSH VOCALS.
Overall:
Vocal sound is harsh and inaccurate.

"For real!"
Sound:I don't own any of these but have used a few different pairs on gigs (running full live bands through them) and I can offer a whole hearted assurance that, unlike many products, these actually live up to ALL the hype. The sound is truly beyond what I had ever heard come out of any PA speaker. Terrific high-end clarity, incredibly powerfull bass (although if you wanted to get ferocious you can always add on their sub, however you can get really thumpin' with just these speakers) and best of all (I think) the mid-range is nearly flat sounding, so that you can actually get a "normal" sound from guitar, keys, etc. without having to do major eq treatments like on most PA systems (which don't really solve the problem anyway.) There is also enough power to REALLY crank it up without distorting. I did sound for a band in a medium-large to large club and these filled the room completely, at a good high volume (not deafening but at a volume where you would have to shout to be heard by someone next to you, anywhere in the room) and showed no signs of distortion/breakup. And this is near-perfect studio monitor sound just as they claim. Certainly not the ultra pin-point detail of a multi-thousand dollar pair of studio monitors that a high-end studio would have, but not far behind in my opinion. I also used these on a separate occasion outdoors, and they performed equally well in that acoustical environment (or lack thereof.) And as others have noted you can chain them so if you wanted more power/volume you could add on another 2 etc. Mackie also makes a higher-powered version of this speaker which I can't even imagine unless you are putting together an arena setup or an in-house PA at a very large club.
Overall:
For anything short of a mega-touring rig, a pair of these will take care of you! Don't buy any other PA speakers until you've heard these.

"This is _THE_ speaker for live performance."
Feature:Controls are all more than adequate. No complaints from the audio side. It would be useful if the units came with a (at least vinyl) cover for the speaker that had a pouch for the power and link cables.
Quality:
No problems. the finish scratches more easily than I'd like.
Value:
Don't get anything else for your live gig. If it's too expensive save up.
Sound:
These sound almost good enough to be used in a home studio!
Support:
Hopefully, I never have to find out...
Overall:
Great sound for vocals, piano, acoustic guitar, fiddle, everything!
