"Martin, not known for its acoustic-electrics, astonishes with a superior, playable product with great sound for a great price!"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
I had been playing a floor model of this in a Guitar Center, and loved the action and sound, but they wouldn't deal. So, I ordered this from SameDay and it arrived as expected, but the action was way higher than the demo I had played. I had it adjusted for a few bucks, and it is now the best A/E I have ever played. Unplugged, it has a really robust sound for a thin, narrow box--sounds as loud and sustains as well as most dreadnoughts. sounds good with blues, rock, bluegrass/country. The electronics are good too, but let's face it, with all of the signal enhancers in pedals and amps, that really isn't terribly crucial, as long as it amplifies and the Aura does that.
Feature:
Highest quality acoustically, and just okay electronics, hence my 9 rating.
Ease of Use:
Acoustically, a 10. Electronics are not so great.
Quality:
Action was high. Easily corrected with saddle-shave.
Manufacturer Support:
Delivery was a day or two later than expected. I called about the action problem, and had to go through two layers of phone numbers to get a "sorry, that is not a warranty issue--you will have to get it serviced yourself". Martin-authorized repair shops found on their website are few and far between, so I took it to my local guy who did a fine job for $50 of adjusting the action.
Value:
Better than the $2-5,000 guitars I have played. Great value.
Overall:
I expect to keep this the rest of my life. I have a collection of A/E 6 and 12-stringers, but I could sell them all and live with just this one.
