"Marshall MG100HDFX---A Beast On the Loose!"

    Feature:
A Marshall two-button footswitch is included, and this has a generous length of cable coming from it. Also comes with Owner's Manuel/User's Guide and a few tips on suggested settings. Another nice feature is that it doesn't weigh a ton; that's not to say it isn't heavy because it is, but somewhat lighter in weight compared to the tube heads. I wish a cover either came with it or was available seperately. Apparently it is not.

    Quality:
The design, look and constuction of this amp is typical top-drawer Marshall quality. Everything is in it's place, functions perfectly and no, I would not hesitate to take this thing on the road. That the thing is a beast is an understatement.

    Value:
While Marshall can tend to be on the pricy side, this 100 watt head is worth every dime and then some. I got a very good deal on one.

    Desirability:
The Marshall name and appearance not only speak very highly for the R&D guys, but out there in the land of guitarist, it is an open secret that when you use Marshall, you have "arrived" as a serious musician. And who the hell would argue the look of a huge Marshall back line?

    Sound:
I remember using the old 200-watt Majors years ago, and my God does this thing come close. Crisp and clean to down and dirty, it is hard NOT to find settings to suit your style. I also have a AVT274, and I sometimes will play this head through the speakers in the AVT275, which allows me to configure sound and tone setting that are unique to the two different amps.

    Support:
I rate the Support aspect as The Best because in all the years that I have been using Marshalls, I've never had any problem, and complaint, nor any other reason to turn to their Support line for anything whatsoever. Not needing them is best recommendation for them!

    Overall:
I cannot forsee getting rid of it at any time in the future, but I can sure see myself supplimenting it. I own 3 Marshalls at the moment: a MG Series 15DFX, the MG Series 100HDFX and the AVT275 and I do not forsee getting rid of any of them any time soon.

    "Love it!"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Feature:
Clean/Crunch channel, OD1/OD2 channel, fx-chorus, delay, flange, chr/dly, seprate reverb, fx loop with front mix control knob.

    Value:
Definitely worth the price. If something happened to mine, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

    Desirability:
Hey, it's a Marshall! Don't get much sexier than that.

    Sound:
Clean channel is crystal clear with plenty of bite and punch. With the crunch button on you get a nice bluesy, ballsy overdrive. OD1/OD2 channel can get you just about any kind of heavy rock/metal sound you desire. I use a Boss DS-1 as a boost for a nice "Van Halen" type of tone! The fx are ok, the chr/dly combo is kinda ehh, but the rest are usable. Reverb is good with lots of room to play with.

    Ease of Use:
Like any amp, you need to familiarize yourself with its characteristics. Play with the controls and you'll find the sound your looking for.

    Support:
    Haven't had to use them.

    Overall:
I hate seeing all the negative comments about solid state amps not sounding like tube amps! NO DUH!!! That's like comparing a Ferrari to a VW Beetle! I've been playing for over 30 years and I've played lots of different amps, tube/ss/hybrid. As far as SS goes, this thing beats the hell out of any others I've played, Peavey, Crate, Fender.

"Great Amp at a great price"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Feature:
The pedal should be able to turn off the reverb, otherwise the tone is clear and Marshall

    Quality:
Well made, looks solid, when cranked it does not rattle.

    Value:
Value given more than equals price.

    Desirability:
the gold tone of the face plate and black cover , does empress.

    Sound:
Add a noise gate between the guitar and the amp for Overdrive and Crunch.

    Ease of Use:
No learning curve, once unpacked and connected to the speaker cabinet, it rocks

    Support:
    N/A

    Overall:
Plan to use this amp until it dies, enjoy every minute of use I get from it

    "Great when it works."

    Feature:
The guy before me kept the footswitch, thanks a lot. It has great Marshall distortion in OD1 and OD2, and the crunch on the clean channel is OK. The circuit board is cheesy, I had to replace the master volume control, it was scratchy beyond repair, and it turned out that the factory installed a C pot when it should have been a B pot.

    Quality:
The already mentioned thin circuit board and failed pot don't impress me too much. I have spoken with service techs about this model and it seems it is prone to have the TDA 7294 amp module burn out, I've also seen numerous complaints of the main amp going dead while playing. It's that thingy in the back with the little fan that makes the funny noises when you start it up. I suspect fan failure causes this baby to overheat, and POOF!

    Value:
Value is fair, it would be pretty good if the thing was reliable.

    Desirability:
Even with all the aforementioned problems, I still like this head because it has great sound and it's light. Anyone want to buy a BV120H? They make great boat anchors!

    Sound:
This is the best sounding solid state head I've played. It captures the classic Marshall sound better than amp modelers or hybrids (Valvestate etc.). I like the sound. Effects are moderate, but usable, the control mixing two effects is not very good.

    Support:
You have to really look to find service, I do my own.

    Overall:
I will keep fixing it until I can't get parts, or I find something as good or better and otherwise comparable.

"Very hot amp for the money!."

    Feature:
I bought it used and got a Peavy one switch foot pedal with it.

    Quality:
    Bullet proof!.

    Value:
I got a good deal so yes.

    Desirability:
    NC

    Sound:
The sound is good. A little too trebly. As a result I send the signal from the emulated line out into a 1966 Fender Bassman normal channel. This warms the sound up quite well, so I get "My" sound as I owned a 50 watt Marshall tube amp in the mid 70's. The 50 watter was great inside, but outside was anemic sounding. (Compared to a 100 watt Fender Twim Reverb)

    Support:
    NC

Until I can afford a Marshall 100 watt tube amp.
