"I dreamed I died and went to Marshall heaven -"
Feature:The effects are a little weak, not only in lack of control but in actual lack of sound coloration, even with "effects level" knob up all the way.
Quality:
Well, I had a problem I just recently got fixed. See below.
Value:
Yea, come up with a few extra bucks and by a Marshall, whatever you're looking at.
Desirability:
Remember "truck balls?" - Marshall amps (even the little ones) should have "amp balls."
Sound:
Sounds like - ah, a Marshall. The countour control lets you completely de-country and de-surf you sound by scooping the middle. Salesman warned me "not to run anything but a strat through it." Ha, I laugh in the face of danger with 80s Charvel EMG style PUs - screams like a banshee, stings like a bee.
Ease of Use:
Pretty easy to figure out controls, except effects section kinda sucks - reverb is good. If you use your own effects, and you want the best basic rock sound - get what every modeling amp claims to be able to sound like (but doesn't) - a Marshall.
Support:
They got back to me and even had a guy call me from Texas about the problem I was having (which I fixed myself).
Overall:
This little amp never sounded quite right for the first two years I had it - then something went harmonic in the circuit and the amp had a horrible "swishing" sound even with nothing plugged into it. I took it apart (Don't try this at home, kids - I do a lot of electronic repair, so I'm brave) and traced the problem to the bridge rectifier (a diode). I took it out and thought I needed a new one, but I didn't want to be without my amp so I put it back in to use it until the new part arrived, and all of a sudden the amp worked perfectly for the first time since I bought it. It was just a bad solder connection on the PC board at the base of the rectifier. God, this thing screams now, I love it. I can't wait to get the angle MG412 Marshall cabinet (same impedence 8 ohms) hooked up to it, I'll probably think I died and went to guitar heaven, but I'm already there with this setup. The only thing I would change would be the effects (and watch those solders, guys).
