"throw your 4-track in the garbage"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Feature:
lots of inputs, but you can't program MIDI with the bundled software unless you pay $100s more for the upgrade. WTF? On the plus side, the software has unlimited tracks and some decent effects plug-ins. eVerb is really nice. Firewire is SO FAST - I can detect no latency (a big hassle with older interfaces like USB and PCMCIA).

    Quality:
no problems so far. Build is solid.

    Value:
sticker shock's an itch, but it's just so nice to have a recording studio at my house ready to go! haven't tried other stuff in the price range tho. It costs a little more than USB-based interfaces, but again, Firewire is SO MUCH FASTER.

    Desirability:
if you want to record quickly and easily and cleanly and without latency hassles, buy it.

    Sound:
it's digital - sound comes out as cleanly as it goes in. Phantom power preamps the mics and guitars well enough, but I run my bass guitar through a seperate amp first b/c it sounded weak without it. Mix-downs come out a little quiet, but i'm figuring out how to fix that.

    Support:
had some questions, got a relevant email response within 24 hours.
