"Another solid product from Motu"
Feature:The I/O is great however do realize that there is a lack of spdif and midi. If you are looking for an all in one unit that does include midi then youll have to look elsewhere.
Quality:
Seems quite sturdy and the xlrs in the rear fit nice and tight with no play when hooked up. As far as cosmetics go beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
Value:
I havent seen anything with the front fexibilty like this at the given price point. It does what its suppose to quite well.
Sound:
I find the sound excellent on this. The fact that you can bypass the mic pre's is a huge bonus as well as having individual phantom power for each channel (instead of banks of four or all eight). This comes in handy for recording drum kits, ect.
Support:
other than ordering a manual I havent had to use Motu support, so no comment yet.
Overall:
If it was stolen or if I needed another 8 channels of front end I would get another. I would have no problem recommending it to a friend.

Very flexible machine with great cool features. 96k digital conversion, 192K analog conversion, standalone operation, 18 simultaneous ins (8 analog, 8 digital, 2 AES/EBU). Sorry for sounding childish but I'm feeling the lights on the front panel and when I turn the knob on the box the slider moves in CueMix. You can use TRS, XLR, ADAT 8ch optical, 2ch optical, S/PDIF, AES/EBU, word clock.
Quality:
I have had no problems so far. The box is pretty sturdy and CueMix runs fine on Win XP. Oh yeah, I think readers should disregard the comment from the guy down at bottom. I believe he is talking about the old 896 not the 896HD 192K Firewire. He says that his box died after a year but the 896HD has not been out that long. I believe it was released in DEC '03 (its MARCH '04). Also, no offense intended, it's common knowledge that Audio Desk (DP) only runs on Mac.
Value:
You will be hard pressed to find a box with all the same features and sound quality, for the same price.
Desirability:
It doesn

"Excellent product, can't be beat for value and electronics."
Feature:Great features, the mic pres are all pretty good, nice even sound, and with the plugins that you can use in audiodesk they sound simply excellent. Going DI into it sounds good with bass and guitar as long as you add effects like pre amps and stuff into it.
Quality:
The product is made quite well, non of the parts have failed yet, and it does not seem to get too hot.
Value:
192khz for 1250, yes, I don't think anyone can compete.
Desirability:
It's a big wanter.
Sound:
Excellent sound. Very full, but not colored. Some of these dumbasses are whiners, for real. WIN 2k for sound editing, right buddy. Dream on. Maybe if your a newb.
Support:
As long as you email motu during the weekdays you should get your questions answered within 2 days, which is alright support in my eyes.
Overall:
Excellent product.

"Think Twice before you buy! This system is confusing!"
Feature:Lots of features but confusing to use

No problems so far

I wish I hadn't bought this unit. Too confusing to use!

Looks cool but that doesn't mean much if you can't run it.
Sound:
sounds okay. mics and room acoustics probably more important
Support:
Not too impressed. Seems like they're hard to reach most of the time!
Overall:
