Sound:

I purchased this for my home studio. I have a lady who writes her own songs and records them with me. It allows placement of the microphone in a better position in front of her and away from the music stand than my normal floor stands and adjustable booms.

Feature:

I think the next best feature is because it is so big and the metal sort of "gives" in the horizontal boom, it offers better mechanical isolation from floor rumble and the performer. They are well away from the vertical boom so there are no accidental bumps. With full horizontal extension, the microphone bobs a bit but I haven't had the opportunity to compare it to an Atlas. I would imagine the Atlas would be a bit sturdier but at three times the costs.

Ease of Use:

It is simple to set up and has toothed disks at the swivels that are spring loaded. When you loosen them, the teeth disengage, adjust and tighten to secure with the teeth engaged. Simple and secure. The height adjustments work well, but I definably wouldn't over tighten them! They are identical to what is used on other On Stage products.

Quality:

It is shipped in two cartons and thanks for Same Day selling with free shipping! Everything arrived in perfect shape. One has to assemble the casters on the base but a simple wrench is provided. I did however find that moving it by grasping the vertical tube loosened it from the heavy base. I thought of adding a wagon type handle to move it around but actually don't have to move it that much.

Manufacturer Support:

Never had to contact them in any regards but own more than a few of their floor stands and music stands. The best part is, on the web you can find a parts list and drawing so that you can order replacement parts for their products. Never had to but if they do sell parts, it would be fantastic. That is of course if the prices are reasonable.

Value:

I have to give this a 10 because there is nothing I have found comparable to this studio boom except an Atlas which is definitely out of my budget.

The Wow Factor:

Sex appeal? This is a piece of hardware. Nothing more or less. It is something I could use but necessarily didn't need and definitely could live without. But the price and capability made it "desirable". The quality is certainly adequate for my use. It is not cheap junk nor is it rock steady. It is simple and economical answer for a studio boom and well thought out and designed to be reasonable in price.

Overall:

I'll wear it out and if possible and still available will order replacement parts. I did purchase it based on my experience with On Stage products and the fact that it appears you can purchase replacement parts though I haven't priced them because the need hasn't arisen. I would prefer it didn't bobble so much fully extended but no one will be touch it when in use and it is on a concrete floor.

Sound:

It's like having a super stable tower crane for a microphone. Wow! Designed for studio use, but extremely useable on stage. You can't knock it over.

Feature:

I don't use the wheels. Heavy as lead, but worth its weight in gold. I've got 4, but looking for 2 more.

Ease of Use:

super easy. if you can unscrew a large knob, you can adjust this fool.

Quality:

had 4 for several years. no breaks, no problems, no complaints.

Manufacturer Support:

haven't had to call the company for anything.

Value:

normal boom stands have balance issues. this stand can reach eight or more feet out over someone's head without any balance issues. this stand will take you by surprise.

The Wow Factor:

Ugly as homemade sin. Only comes in black. stands up like an oil derrick against the sky, but do you really want something this large shining like chrome on your set?

Overall:

I was apprehensive when I got them. I had several people beaned in the head by cheap boom stands. after set-up and the first few performances, all doubt removed. On with the show!

Feature:

This Boom "SYSTEM" offers a LOT of configurations (for height, width, angle, etc for YOUR room size). It is a ROCK. STURDY and highly PROFESSIONAL for the price (amazing price at the AWESOME folks at NEXT DAY MUSIC). It has a COUNTER-WEIGHT that is adjustable (up/down your angled boom pole. The weight of it is 7 whole pounts (Most Excellent). THE HEX BASE (SOLID CAST METAL and is very heavy, which is what you want for a rock-solid STURDY Boom. Even if you hit / tripped (no not that way guys... he, he) the boom pole, this will NOT TIP OVER. You'd have to be thown at it to get this to budge. Set-up is EASY. MUCH easier than I thought (minutes). Is is very handsome, too. For $119... AMAZING. ...where so many sell it for ~$160. Remember this guys, NEXT-DAY MUSIC may be excellent for their prices, but they ALSO KNOW THEIR STUFF (technically), so you get SO much more for you money, in terms of intelligence. ...and YES, they really do ship SAME DAY, where as some others may "place/PROCESS your order, it doesn't mean it goes out that day or next with your chosen carrier. FYI.

Ease of Use:

Adjustments... there are so many to have it SO personalized to YOUR specs/needs.

Quality:

High Quality materials. Solid, sturdy (so much more than I thought). I'm very selective about what I choose and this EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS (not if people could only be that way more often). LOL.

Value:

Stick with SAME DAY MUSIC and it IS the BEST PRICE: $119 for something that looks, feels, etc like a Studio Boom costing at least twice to three times that of others. I've done a LOT of referencing on pricing for this item and most others sell it for $160 (give or take a bit).

The Wow Factor:

VERY HANDSOME, PRO-Quality is APPARENT. It certainly makes my studio look SO much more PROF. Rock-ON friends at SAME DAY, and to my fellow musicians, engineers, writers, etc.
