Peavey International Series II 5-Piece Drum Kit Customer Review

    Sound:
This set sounds horrable with the standard heads and cymbals. If you can tune it correctly and get some decent heads (evans, remo, aquarian)its sounds pretty good. I also threw out every cymbal it came with and got Zildijan A Customs (just my preference). It sounds MUCH better after these changes.
    Feature:
The double braced hardware is pretty good. Fairly light weight, but it is sturdy.
    Quality:
I have had this set for about 5 years, after replacing the heads with higher quality ones is its very good.

    "Great for beginners"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
buy new heads, Evans G2 Genera sound great
    Feature:
It would be better if it had tom arms and a 2 tom adapter
    Quality:
pretty good overall quality but the heads mark up very quickly, and the snare head is low quality
    Manufacturer Support:
i called wondering if there was an instrruction manual (this was my first kit) and we got through in a matter of seconds, and they helped us with a few things we couldnt figure out.
    Value:
would be better if the price dropped a little bit closer to $300
    The Wow Factor:
Pretty basic kit, but pretty good for a company that makes guitars.
    Overall:
This kit was far from perfect, but very easy to upgrade, for about $450 you can turn it into a 7 piece with a full selection of cymbals and decent hardware.

    "satisfactory---great for beginners"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
the snare sounds a little bit...well, it echoes too much, so i took a piece of a t-shirt the size and shape of the drum head and put it on, and it sounds great!
    Quality:
the pin on the underside of the suspended cymbal wont stay in place, so i just took it out for good. the snare head is worn very easily
    Value:
    its worth every penny

"Ok, if you can tune it."

    Sound:
Don't use the drumheads that come with the kit. Change them with Evans hydros, and resos. Change the snare batter to something like a Remo Ambassador. Cymbals are ok for practice. HiHat stand uses a spring, and is real noisy. The HiHat stand broke on me after about 10 months.
    Feature:
The pedal scratches up the hoop real bad. Wrap a piece of leather around your hoop where the pedal hooks on, it will help prevent it from being scratched.
    Quality:
Quality is ok, I had to replace several tension rods, and lug nuts. They wore out quite easily. Like I said I had to replace the hi-hat stand. Shells aren't bad, but there is cracking in between 2 plys on one of my toms.
    Manufacturer Support:
The support from Peavey is actually pretty good.
    Value:
No this procuct is not worth its typical selling price compared to other items. For a little more you can get a Pearl FX, or if your in Canada a Pearl Target.
    The Wow Factor:
I guess they don't look too bad.
    Overall:
If you think your gonna be really into drumming, buy a Pearl FX. You will be kicking yourself if you buy this kit. I bought this kit a little more than a year ago, and if they would have come out with the Pearl Target earlier I would of went with the Pearl. Basically this is only good as a practice kit.

    "The most honest one haha"

    Sound:
The first tom sounds okay, when re skinned, the stocks where poor, but its what ypu would expect with a low end drum kit
    Feature:
The single boom stand is not very good, and the snare stand is hard to position correctly, and also the stool doesnt lock in place very well.
    Ease of Use:
It takes a considerable amount of time to tune these, and nearly always looses tone after you finish, so you end up re tuning every time you start playing.
    Quality:
The bass wrap began to come up from the floor tom ad also i do not like the tom mounting systems.
    Manufacturer Support:
Peavey dont even mention the drum kit on their website.
    Value:
    Far overpriced
    The Wow Factor:
Nothing very interesting, no patterns or nice ideas
    Overall:
I would aviod and get something like a gretsch catalina mod shell pack or something, if you know where to get it cheap enough

    "true story"

    Sound:
doesn't sound like normal drums...i blame the skins
    Feature:
includes all accessories, but not the greatest quality
    Quality:
everything arrived in perfect condition, but again, not outstanding quality
    Manufacturer Support:
i would upgrade. hi-hat stand uses springs...
    Value:
okay for what you get, but ludwigs are cheaper and pearls aren't too far off. same with tama.
    The Wow Factor:
looks good, but symbols don't have good sounds, i'd upgrade to ziljidans.
    Overall:
this product is good until you really get involved with it, i wouldn't replace the whole set when that happens though, just upgrade piece by piece (symbols, hardware, etc..) as you need it.
