"Best Software Synth and Sound Processor for the money!!"

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Feature:
Slight learning curve, but once past that, you can pretty much do anything with regard to sounds and music production. Hitting the Tab button turns the virtual rack around, so you can re-wire any patch or sounds design. Runs with very little "juice" from your CPU, minimum requirements, but it was designed that way.

    Quality:
The packaging is sweet, though digipack. The manual is thorough. The registration identification card is heavy duty, won't wear out.

    Value:
For the price, you would have to spend 5 to 6 times the amount if you bought the mixing board, and all of the synths and sound processors as hardware.

    Desirability:
Already own it. Reviews could not lead me astray. Tried the demo, and wanted to do more. Had to have it, needed to have it.

    Sound:
Awesome sound, with more "Refills" than you can get anywhere. If you don't like a sound, use a preset, and re-create it.

    Support:
Website is very good. Email and community is very quick to respond to questions of any issue. I had no issues with the software.

    Overall:
There is so much to learn with this software, and so many different configurations. So little time, so much to do. I tell you, you could be like Prince, and lock yourself in your studio for days, eating candybars and potato chips....and forget what day it was.

Reason never messes up. The quality is the best, but almost to real.Anyone can use Reason.

    Value:
Yes, you get everything in one software.

    Sound:
Reason's sounds sound just as if you were hearing them on stage. If the sound isn't what your looking for,Reason has plenty of sound distortion devices that are easy to use to get what you want.

    Support:
The propellerhead home page is very helpful because you can download free sounds and other songs to learn how to use it.

    Overall:
I think Reason overall is the best music production software. I would not replace it, and it will not wear out because it has it all.

    Propellerhead Reason Software Customer Review

    Feature:
The syths and the samplers are great. If you buy Recycle 2 with it, you can't be stopped.

    Quality:
    The quality is great.

    Value:
    Spend $350.00 and you'll become a multi-platinum producer.

    Sound:
    The sound is peferct.

    Support:
    I haven't needed support, it's too easy...

    Overall:
I've created some major hits from Reason, this is the best software for making beats if you like making music digital. It's alot of rap labels that use Reason, they just don't tell you that. I use to be a hardware producer, but not no more. Always remember, It's not what you use, but how you use it. It's alot of people who own MPC's, and haven't produced nothing with it.

    "Reason 3k"

    Feature:
I wish it came with more samples and sounds.

    Quality:
Probably the best studio program out there.

    Value:
They should charge 150 bucks less for this program.

    Desirability:
    It looks good.

    Sound:
It's hard to get some sounds to sound good with other sounds in this program. To do that, you need a sequencer like Sonar 3, so if you don't have one you might have some trouble.

    Support:
    Great.

    Overall:
I'll probably move on in a year, either that or when I can't afford any more Refills.

    "An excellent product"

    Feature:
Love the features on reason, Especially the automated tweaking, where you can pencil in (or use hardware MIDI devices) to control just about any knob or slider on Reason. My only complaint is that there is not VST/DX integration and you cannot switch the tempo in a song. Well, I would also like to see integrated digital audio, but they've somewhat solved that problem with ReWire.

    Quality:
I love the quality of Reason. What I'm referring to is how it looks like a real hardware rack. It's very well integrated, and looks very sharp!

    Value:
Reason is, without a doubt, my #1 synth right now. It's amazing what you can do with the effects chains, and the endless amounts of extra refills. For the price paid, I couldn't ask for anything more.

    Desirability:
A wonderful looking and intuitive interface. It looks impressive, and those who don't know how to use reason look at it and know it's something real cool.

    Sound:
Reason comes with a very great soundset. I wouldn't say it was the best soundset ever, but you can create some real great sounding music with it. I'm very happy with the sounds of Reason overall, for the price, it's definitely worth it. My only thing is that not all the sounds are balanced well, but that is a minor problem that a little EQ and compression can usually fix. It's worth it to look into the many refills out there, as some of them add a whole new dimension to Reason.

    Support:
They have forums (for registered users) and have answered every question I've ever had.

    Overall:
I love Reason. The whole concept is just amazing. This is the first software synth that I have bought, and it really blew me away. The soundset is very good, although I wouldn't put it up to a MOTIF, most non-musicians probably wouldn't know much of a difference anyways.

"Great starter package...but needs improvement for professional production."

    Feature:
This would be better if there was VST.2 support. Rewiring to another host can eat A LOT of CPU power. Real time automation of effects through the sequencer would be a lot better IF you didn't have to do it through the Matrix pattern sequencer. Arps would be easier if you didn't have to run them through the Matrix as well. If these options were more intuitive, it would bring the machine into the new mellenium.

    Quality:
Product is VERY reliable and stable. Running 50 modules (racks and FX per song) is pretty smoothly on a high end PIII. The nice thing is that if a song can't run you can still save as a .wav flawlessly. Unfortunately, the recording sound is not up to par and as I said earlier, there is better out there for high end production. I have moved on to Tracktion which has VSt support and is a lot less money (of course with Tracktion you have to have a library of VSTs and VSTIs.

    Value:
Definitely the best value for what it is.

    Desirability:
It was my first time with a virtual studio and I owe a lot to it. I would want it more and use it more if it had VST support and automation of fx.

    Sound:
The sounds are good but limited. Often I run the initial Subtractor patch through FX, because many of the sounds are just too out there (in a bad way) to utilize. The drum sounds stink. For true production quality, there is better out there. Although I was offered a recording contract with stuff that came out of Reason. Better sounds (refills) are out there and can be purchased separately.

    Support:
Propellerhead support is absolutely the best. They are responsive like no company I have ever dealt with.

    Overall:
I have used Reason for 3 years and am now moving on to Tracktion with a library of Steinberg and Native Instrument VSTs. It has definitely limitations, especially in the variety of sounds (drum sounds in particular). Bit for what it is, the modules are pretty good.
