"Listen to/play these cymbals before you throw your money away on something else!"
Sound:
Very bright and almost glassy sounding without the harshness and ringy overtones of so many value priced cymbals, and very many exspensive ones. If you like dark cymbals these aren't for you. I also played the PST5 18" china and the PST5 10" splash. To me the china was too thick [too much sustain, not enough quick, trashy explosion] and the splash was to gongy.
Feature:
I was looking for cymbals that would sound great at all playing volumes without spending an arm and a leg, if possible. I also bought the PST5 14" and 18" thin crashes to go along with this set. These two and the 16" crash that comes with the set have the ability to make a great explosive crash sound without beating the hell out of the cymbal, which is nice in smaller venues. The crash sound is as good as any cymbal that I have ever heard. The highhats sound great, although they are a tad on the thick side. The ride [like the other PST5 cymbals] sounds as good as cymbals from the same company [Paiste] that cost twice as much.
Quality:
Unbelievable for the price!
Manufacturer Support:
Haven't needed any.
Value:
Unbelievably cheap!
The Wow Factor:
The underside of these cymbals are not lathed or polished much which some folks might finds asthetically displeasing but it's fine with me.
Overall:
These cymbals are relatively thin which may or may not effect their long term durability. If I broke them tomorrow I would go out and buy more, that's how good they sound!
