"Fabulous live recording mike!"
Sound:
I am comparing results to the AT822 which I have used previously. I bought the NT4 because I was unhappy with the recording results of the AT822.
This mike is an entire ballpark better! Just recording in my living room, with difficult instruments to record...french horn and tuba, I got near-CD sound quality. I am delighted, and would recommend this mike to anyone. I was using phantom power from a BlueTube preamp, and going directly into a Tascam CD writer.
Feature:
It came with its own cables and a windscreen. I would like a better windscreen included.
Quality:
Quite heavy, seems very robust. Of course with one day's use I have no idea of the durability or reliability.
Manufacturer Support:
No dealings to date.
Value:
I paid $379 locally for this mike.
The Wow Factor:
Practical addition. While I like the feel and looks, I would have been just as happy if it were olive drab with pink polka dots (well, almost!) If I had had a choice between, say, bright chrome, the brushed metallic suface it came with, or matte black...I would probably have bought the brushed metallic because the on/off button is easier to find than on matte black. Matte black, I would have had to put white paint on the on-off button to see it, which is grody.
Overall:
I'll use it as long as it lasts, probably, or until something of drastically higher quality becomes available for the same price.
