"honest answers"

Sound:
It sounds great, especialy strings(strings/orch-2) and French horn(brass-16),and some organ, piano, and ethnic(bajo) sounds. Most of voices(voice pad) sound too much artificialy. Anyway it's a great machine

Overall:
I' not going to replace it. I'm looking forward to have the latest model soon. I think Roland will do its best to make it

"Fantastic unit! (from and old GR-1 user - it finally went out!)"

Sound:
I used a Roland GR-1 for years and have gotten alot of quality productivity from it - but, the GR-20 is unbelievable: the tracking is incredible, the dynamics between playing and responding are fantastic. I like the interface (2nd option) where you can use the foot pedals for patch selections and the guitar pick-up for toggling between the pedals being used for patch selections / bend & hold. The user banks are a great idea (versus patch swapping on the GR-1. The sounds can be easily manipulated to sound very realistic: the horn, string, wind, bass, and ethnic patches are especially great (that's not to discount the other patches in any way.) The only thing I miss from the (much) older model is the patches are identified only my number - I'd like to assign a name to each sound. Otherwise, it's truly impressive!
