"I love my pedals."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
It actually does not have any internal sounds. It is a MIDI controller. I have used it with an Oberheim Matrix 1000, a Roland D-50, and a Roland Pro-E.
Feature:
I bought these pedals, used (in near perfect condition) in 1992. If you are using them with the Pro-E keyboard, every "sound button" will sync up perfectly...meaning you can take full advantage of all of the different sounds that are built into the Pro- E. Are many of these useful? Not really. If you have a favorite sound in your keyboard, for example, a nice bass pedal patch, you can assign this sound to the "bass sound button" and it works great. You can put a hold on it so it will keep holding that tone. If you want to use the same patch, but don't want it to hold, you can play it through the "poly" button.
Ease of Use:
I found it pretty easy to figure out... but then again, i just used it as a "bass pedals" unit, with an occasional single note string patch here and there. I used a Morley volume pedal to bring the sound in gradually at times. I did find it kind of hard to see the pedals on a dark stage, as the "white" keys are dark brown and the black is black. I used a Littlelite to illuminate the pedals.
Quality:
I've had mine since 1992. Used them a lot!! I've never had any problems at all with them!!
Overall:
It's unfortunate to see reviews that are negative. There is,however, good and bad in every product out there. I was fortunate to get a good one. These pedals are not made in China. Mine were made in Italy. I do believe they are still made there now.(may want to check that out)Based on my personal experience with the Roland PK-5, I would surely buy this product again if I had to. It has performed perfectly for me for more than 15 years!

"Unreliable piece of garbage!"
Sound:
No Sound.
Feature:
Great when it worked.
Ease of Use:
Could be easier to use, but for it's primary purpose, it's easy enough.
Quality:
Lasted 18 months and now will cost $400 to repair. I used the pedal maybe 20 hours total and never took it anywhere. I read somewhere where you shouldn't leave the AC Adapter plugged into it for extended periods of time - really?? what kind of product fails under those conditions? This thing is junk!
Manufacturer Support:
Since it is a couple months out of warranty, I'm out of luck. The repair center wants $400 to replace the CPU board which somehow went dead despite meticulous care.
Value:
$500 for a door stop.
The Wow Factor:
I want it to work!
Overall:
I'm already looking for something else cuz this one doesn't work.
