"A great way to improve your timing--no serious drummer can afford to be without it!"
Feature:This version of the Rhythm Coach has the best innovation yet: You can rate your accuracy over 4, 8, 16 or 32 bars. That innovation makes gauging your progress clear and easy. Also, having the "time check" feature "always on" makes it much more useful than the original Rhythm Coach. You now can "time check" yourself over several innovative exercises.
Quality:
Arrived looking factory perfect. I also have the earlier version of the Rhythm Coach and it is still in great shape after four years of use. This one is just as sturdy as the original.
Value:
If you are serious about being a better drummer then this is definitely worth the price, and you definitely need it. This device can help you time accuracy beyond anything you can imagine.
Desirability:
It looks cool. The all-in-one design is eye catching.
Sound:
The RMP-5 has a good variety of on-board sounds so you can play it like a mini- e-drum kit. I personally don't use it as an e-kit, but it gives me that option.
Ease of Use:
This Rhythm Coach unit is super easy to use. And . . .learning the different coach functions was a no-brainer. The manual is a solid reference that answered all of my questions.
Support:
No basis for judgement.
Overall:
I have had my first Rhythm Coach for nearly five years. During that time I though of several ways to make it better. I guess Roland was thinking too, because the RMP-5 contained every one of the improvements I had thought about. It was definitely a leap forward from the first unit (which was a great innovation at the time). I'll keep using the RMP-5 till Roland comes up with the next version of the Rhythm Coach; I'm sure it will be worth it to upgrade, but for now, I have plenty of challenging timing practice ahead of me. And . . I use it every day. In just 4 weeks of use my objective accuracy score has already improved by 20%, and I can hear and feel that improvement in my playing.
