"Awesome MIc"

Feature:
Its a mic....On/Off switch? lol

Quality:
Shure...Need I say more.

Value:
the balance between price and performance is unmatched.

Desirability:
Its not the most attractive mic. The baby blue stripe on a metalic grill does not make this mic sexy at all. I think what makes this mic desirable is the fact that just about every vocalist and player owns one. How can so many people be wrong? The sound of my voice through the Beta 58 is what sold me.

Sound:
I love the sound of this mic. I compared it to my beta 87 to check out the difference. I would say that the 87 is a bit more accurate and crystaline, but the 58 is right on the 87's booty as far as detail. You can only tell the difference between the two if you give them some type of pepsi challenge test, where you are paying a great deal of attention to the differences. I love the slight bass roll-off the 58 has, something the 87 does not have at all, making it great for Ranchera/Mariachi music, or any kind of music where warmth is desired.

Support:
Great!

Overall:
I will be satisfied with this mic for life.

"Smooth, clean, awesome presence... a great response with little effort on my part!"

Feature:
Sure could use an on/off switch.

Sound:
I love the warmth and response, from highs to lows, purring or growling, this mic picks up every nuance of my voice with precision and clarity.

Support:
My previous Shure died... unknown cause. The company did not offer repair or replacement.

"Some things get Better with Time Shure Products Shure Do !!!"

Feature:
They need to improve the way the mic slips into its stand holder. The Mic sits in it to tight and does not enter into the holders channel in a smooth fluint way. Even though this mic can take a pounding why drop it on the floor because the person trying to return the mic to the holder drops it in to its channel in an ungracefull way and then , It falls and drops and bounces of the floor in an ungracefull way ! There are better ways to offer comic relief to an audiance than the laughter you might hear after your expensive investment starts bouncing accross the stage !

Desirability:
Mic looks great and in sliver w/that Light Blue Enamal around the ball part of the mic it reminds me of a singer's equilvilant of King Authors Excalibure !

Sound:
I Recently Bought a Makie Powered Speaker model 1530 active 3-way Sound Reinforcement Speaker, used. I thought this a great way to finantually rebuild a PA system since I only had to buy a speaker at a time because this system will operate like this with one speaker and a inexpensive mixing board. This is a Highly Rated PA System as I gathered from reading other peoples reviews so you can imagine my disapointment when I pulged in my radio shack Highball-2 with 50-13000Hz Resonse. The sound coming though my Pa system was quieter than inside crypit at midnight. This was with running my 500watts RMS Mackie system at full blast. I then pluged in my new Shure Beta 58A Mic in the next channel . WOW !!! What a Difference! With the exact same settings the mic sound was 3/4 louder. Instead of shouting into what sound like a Tin Can attched to a string I heard a clearity from the Shure Mic I had never heard before, even though I only had a one speaker PA system,It felt I had the unit that was now working adquitly. I also found that no longer must I have to have my mouth right up against the Mic screen to have the mic pick up what I was singing. I found that I could actually stand back a little from the mic and stand. The mic would still pick up what I was singing in a loud and clear way . I found signing in high falcetto much easier and the result better from and on my vocal cords! Amazing ! This little shure mic had given me the PA system I thought I was Orginally buying from Mackie. Even though there may be better Mic's out there this is sure a great mic and I have bought another since my last purchase and I plan to by still another and perhaps another as I see my investment in a good PA system Growing and getting better with each new addtion I am adding to it. I Can't wait to see what I will have when I can afford the other Mackie powered speaker.

Overall:
I plan to keep these mic's as long as I have this PA system. I don't feel I need to keep spending when I have something that works great allready doing the job. Good is Good enough and rewarding when you are really pleased with a purchase.
