"A secret weapon for accomplished, serious singers. A reletively unknown model from the most trusted name in microphones."
Sound:
amazing clarity and depth. During live performance, my vocals came out like i had never heard. this microphone is definitely in a class few others share, and the price isn't too bad either. I even got a great sound in my bands project studio, using it for vocals and even as a spot mike for things like hi-hats and snare. If your looking for an extremely rugged, great sounding lead vocal mike, you can't go wrong with this as far as i can tell.
Feature:
Very straightforward, all the features are on the inside. internal shockmoutning, two stage pop-filter etc. Came with basic mike clip and shure bag.
Quality:
Seems to be VERY well made. Just holding it made me want to buy it. The texture and grip are perfect (not slippery, yet still smooth). The shape and weight fit perfectly into my hand. One good look and a squeeze would convince you of craftsmenship quality.
Manufacturer Support:
I have no experience with Shure support. I've only had the mike a couple of weeks, but i don't think i'll be needing support anytime soon.
Value:
I forked out the cash and never looked back. It's an expensive mike, but you definitely see where your money went upon using it. I'd say it's fairly priced.
The Wow Factor:
Very sexy. It had me spellbound for awhile, but now i'm in charge. I've got to keep an eye on her though, she's very sly. I could lose control at anytime...
Overall:
I was singing through a sennhieser,( which sounded great ) but this is a step up in a whole new ball-game. I discovered "condenser" mikes have a unique sound that picks up everything with fullness and clarity. I do beleive i will be primarily using the sm86 for quite some time. Get yourself a good pre-amp (like the ART V3) and this mike wont let you down. Exellent.
