"A secret weapon for accomplished, serious singers. A reletively unknown model from the most trusted name in microphones."
Feature:Very straightforward, all the features are on the inside. internal shockmoutning, two stage pop-filter etc. Came with basic mike clip and shure bag.
Quality:
Seems to be VERY well made. Just holding it made me want to buy it. The texture and grip are perfect (not slippery, yet still smooth). The shape and weight fit perfectly into my hand. One good look and a squeeze would convince you of craftsmenship quality.
Value:
I forked out the cash and never looked back. It's an expensive mike, but you definitely see where your money went upon using it. I'd say it's fairly priced.
Desirability:
Very sexy. It had me spellbound for awhile, but now i'm in charge. I've got to keep an eye on her though, she's very sly. I could lose control at anytime...
Sound:
amazing clarity and depth. During live performance, my vocals came out like i had never heard. this microphone is definitely in a class few others share, and the price isn't too bad either. I even got a great sound in my bands project studio, using it for vocals and even as a spot mike for things like hi-hats and snare. If your looking for an extremely rugged, great sounding lead vocal mike, you can't go wrong with this as far as i can tell.
Support:
I have no experience with Shure support. I've only had the mike a couple of weeks, but i don't think i'll be needing support anytime soon.
Overall:
I was singing through a sennhieser,( which sounded great ) but this is a step up in a whole new ball-game. I discovered "condenser" mikes have a unique sound that picks up everything with fullness and clarity. I do beleive i will be primarily using the sm86 for quite some time. Get yourself a good pre-amp (like the ART V3) and this mike wont let you down. Exellent.

"THE SM86 sure mic its a great mic."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
This mic is a must with some one with a light voice, some one who sings high. the sound quality is great. I had been singing on stage for about 5 years on a sm58, witch dont get me wrong its a great mic aswell. but i didnt have alot of power from my voice. compaerd to the other guys in the band but i sing great. I was told to try ou tthe SM 86 con. mic. All i could say was WOW. the 1st show i used it at people where blown away. Now i sing lead in the band. Also with the 58 i was singing harder to be heard and i would lose my voice in about 2 hours now i can sing a 4 hour show no problem. Last summer when i opened for LoneStar i took my mic with me the sound crew at 1st was not happy that i didnt want to use there 58 but after they seen what my SM 86 could do they loved it. Ill never use a 58 again. Its a good looking mic its feels good in your hand. if you put it up next to a SM 58 its night and day way better. when i sing in a 58 there are parts where you just cant hear me. The picup rang of the 86 is alot better. I love it.

"Great vocal mic for live engineering"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Price could come down a little, but it is worth the investment if you need top-notch vocals.
Sound:
I used to use SM58 Betas exclusively until I came across the SM86. I am in the process of swapping the 58's out in favor of the 86's. they have better defiintion without being as hot/bright as an SM87 Beta. Pickup pattern has better off-axis rejection - very helpful when using monitor wedges and not in-ear monitors.
