"Great buy guys, and it works!"
Feature:Simple options...mic the room is the best way to go. Few plug ins, big deal. What do you want for a hundred bucks?
Quality:
It feels well built...
Value:
It's a bargain...a good introduction to recording.
Desirability:
Looks modern, not like a piece of junk.
Sound:
Uh, nice to just push a button and get the general feel of the song down; with messy with setting up techical equipment. Sure it's a cassette, but still sounds good, just pretend you're in the 80's Ha!
Ease of Use:
Just plug it in..
Overall:
It's budgetary, who wouldn't want a 24 track?

"Money well spent"
Feature:Very basic features, individual volume and pan for all 4 channels, 1 input, RCA mixdown outs, 9V power supply...but it handles outboard effects pretty well. Would be nice if it had 2 inputs for stereo recording.
Quality:
It's plastic and inexpensive...is it tour worthy? Probably not...will it last a good deal of time as a bedroom studio device if treated with care? Certainly.
Value:
Great value for the money.
Desirability:
It's nicely laid out and visually appealing, very portable.
Sound:
This is what it is, the most basic, entry level multi track you can get. But it sounds great for a hunny dollar investment. It's analog, so its a little fuzzy, but very warm...I also wonder if some of the people complaining about sound quality aren't using the cheapest mics available. With some good purpose specific mikes and a tube pre-amp/compressor in front of this you can get some quality recordings.
Support:
Haven't had to deal with Tascam yet, but their website seems pretty comprehensive.
Overall:
I'll probably just use this until i get my laptop set up for digital recording.

"The Poor Man's Abbey Road Studio"
Feature:Only basic features but sufficient. I wish the individual track controls were the slide type rather than the wheel.
Quality:
Haven't had the unit long so too soon to know about long term reliability. So far so good.
Value:
Oh the price is excellent for your own basic little one kilogram recording studio!
Desirability:
Good looking silver machine..well designed appealing and welcoming
Sound:
Didn't expect much of a sound...but much better than expected.Nice warm non-digital sound too. I use a decent condenser microphone fed through a reverb unit, a Dr Rhythm drum machine and use my electric guitar through a Boss multi effects unit. Use accoustic guitar via mike.
Support:
Support office 500 miles away. Haven't used them{yet} so can't really assess them.
Overall:
I'd probably either replace it or go up one grade. The price appealed to me also a friend had many years of enjoyment from an early Tascam portastudio. I like the simplicity of it and the sound is better than expected.

"Lee Goulding says :-"
Feature:Pan pots for each channel. Mix down sliders, 1 input fader.... I think one of the best thing on this is that it's so simple. Its well laid out for the user!
Quality:
I dont think it would take a beating very well if you got pis*ed at doing the solo wrong for the 40th time. But it seems pretty stable. Eye-catching silver and looks to last long. My only worry is the tape deck. no matter how clean i keep mine they always seem to get jaded. But the guide tells you how to keep on top of it and i think buy the time it is worn out you've prob' already moved onto bigger things.
Value:
I had a magazine judging all the 4 tracks they recommend 4 us mortals and they said this was the best for its price and the antaganists to this one are around

"What a peice of junk."
Feature:Not much to work with.. pan and volume?
Quality:
I borrowed it from a friend, and it the input jack came loose a day after i got it, and wouldnt work. The jack is plastic and theres no support for it. No screw to hole it in.. so if you bump the multitrack when somethings plugged into it, you have a high chance of messing it up. I then tryed repairing it, but since theres no screw holding the jack in, it just breaks again when you barely move it... very cheap , and no im stuck paying my friend because he claims i broke it.. It's cheap.
Value:
I dont find it worth the price it goes for, since its cheap and will most likely break.
Desirability:
boring and crappy
Sound:
The sound i experienced with it was kind of grainy, not great quality.
Support:
The only number i could find is long distance. I dont want to pay long distance and then get put on hold.
Overall:
It's crap. Do not buy it.
