"I bought my T5 only minutes after I touching one for the first time."
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Feature:
The 5 pickup selections are nice. #4 and #5 (pickups in serial vs. parallel) show no discernible difference. Treble/bass/volume controls on the front are slightly less convenient than the equivalent controls on a full body Taylor acoustic.
Quality:
This is a good, solid guitar. It comes with a beautiful case that's better suited to a collector than one I'd throw in the back of a van.
Value:
Mine lists for $3100 but was purchased for a bit less. I've played more expensive guitars with less satisfaction.
Desirability:
This is no flying V, but nice nonetheless.
Sound:
I had been shopping for an acoustic/electric for several months without much satisfaction. Once I played the T5, I was hooked. The bass tones are deep and clear, best in class for a thinline in my opinion. Mine is the T5-S1 maple top. I have not played the koa or spruce models.
Ease of Use:
Like all Taylors, this one has the action of an electric but the deep, round sounds of an acoustic.
Support:
I've never had to deal with Taylor. They have a good reputation.
Overall:
My T5 exceeds all expectations for an acoustic/electric. I have no regrets, and would buy another without hesitation if this one were lost.
