"Believe the hype about the X2! The best piece of gear I've bought in the last year!"
Feature:
The X2 is as simple as it gets, which is how it should be on a guitar wireless. You just turn on the receiver and transmitter and select the same channel on each and thats it. The red and blue LED's are cool looking and useful too. You always know at a glance how much battery time you have left and how much audio input is going in. I bought the power adaptor for the receiver, so I only have to chance the 9volt battery in the transmitter, and I've gotten that to last twelve hours. Both units have quick power up and shut down.
Quality:
I've read some people wondering about the plastic that the stomp box receiver is made of and if it will last. It will. There are many types of plastic, and this is the polycarbonate kind... more like a football helmet plastic than anything. And you never actually step on it so put your fears away. I was also struck how small and thin the transmitter and stomp box are. It doesn't seem cheap at all, on the contrary, it seems ultra high end.
Value:
Value on wireles systems is determined by how good the sound is compared to a cable and what the range of the unit is. The sound is perfect. The range is good enough for any gig. So, I have to give it a perfect 10 because the X2 gets better performance than units costing 3 times as much.
Desirability:
Both the transmitter and receiver are a cool matte black finish... it looks neat. The red and blue LED's are a pretty color too.
Sound:
I read someplace that when Eddie Van Halen tours he won't use a wireless unit anymore because in the past his wireless units have colored his sound and been unreliable. All I can say to Ed is you need to try the X2. The sound is perfect... just like a GOOD cable. This isn't hype, this is the absolute truth. I was blown away by how tranparent the X2 is. You can run around and there is no cable crackling. In normal gigging circumstances you should never have drop out. I've played thru several walls and the sound is still perfect. One cool thing I noticed is if you DO get a dropout, it's instantaneous, which is a good thing. You don't get a crackle or a fading effect or RF interference and "snow" sound... the sound is either there full blast perfect or nothing.
Ease of Use:
I literally had my X2 up and running in under 5 minutes. You just press the button to turn on the receiver and transmitter, select the same channel on each, and that's it. You don't have to fiddle with antennaes or anything... just turn it on and go.
Support:
never needed support
Overall:
I honestly can't ever see the need to buy another wireless unit. This has everything a person could want. The sound is perfect. It's small and durable with excellant battery life.
