"Lives up to hype"
This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.
Sound:
Lives up to the hype. The sound is clean with high headroom. I've used a lot of mixers over the past 30 years (Sunn, Tapco, Mackie, Peavey, etc.) and this one tops them all! My Rodes NT-1A condensor has come alive, and every instrument I plug into the board sounds just the way it should with rich, clear sound! Very impressive!
Feature:
I purchased the mixer without onboard effects because I already have what I need in external components and on my digital recorder. However, the high pass filter (HPF) is very effective at eliminating "boom" when using a mic on an acoustic guitar. Also, the one-control compression is outstanding. The lighted switches are a nice touch that enables at-a-glance confirmation of what is on and what is off!
Ease of Use:
I had it plugged in and operating within 30 minutes of taking it out of the box. The beauty of an analog mixer is that it is easy to use...'nuff said?
Quality:
The overall construction seems solid, but the faders feel loose and cheap. For me, that won't be a problem because it is only being used in my home studio where most of the channels will be set and left alone. However, in an application where the faders will be used frequently, I have to wonder if they will hold up.
Manufacturer Support:
Can't say...No problems yet, and I certainly hope none will come up!
Value:
I researched for weeks before making this purchase. For the price, this mixer is, in my opinion, the best value out there! To get this sound quality any where else will cost you 3 or 4 times as much.
The Wow Factor:
If knobs, buttons and lights turn you on, this unit should put you in heaven!
Overall:
This is it, for me. I needed a mixer that had stereo channels and could accomodate all the instruments I play on recordings, and the 12 channels is just right. If I lose it or it is stolen, I would replce it with the same model.
