"A MUST BUY FOR SERIOUS MUSICIANS/SONG WRITERS"
Feature:
What few accessories it came with are fine. It would've been nice to have a few more sound effects that an older "rented" model seem to have, though I realize now that those sounds had probably been loaded by a previous user.
Quality:
It's a beautiful looking product. However, not real sure how well it will stand up to travel. It seems better suited for a "House" board unless, of course you have a travel board for it. Going back to products/accessories, I haven't seen any cases made for the MSX 8. I don't worry about it's durability...but doubt that I'll travel with it, so I'll be looking to get the baby brother MSX 7 and interface the two. I do worry that the cosmoetics may not hold up if I do travel with it.
Value:
Given the high quality, it IS a bit pricey. But I feel well worth the investment. Simply because, I expect to be playing this board for the next 5 - 7 years at the very least.
Desirability:
I gotta have this board!
Sound:
Hands down, the best board I've ever owned. I've played A Korg Triton LE, A Roland and a Kurz.PC88 and the Motif XS8 is my favorite to date. With piano sounds that are almost as authentic as the real thing (I've played one or two grands in my life as well!) this board is an absolute joy to play. The action on the weighted keys has the feel of a Baldwin put plays sensitive to the touch like a Steinway. It rocks like a Yamaha (surprise, surprise) and the tone approaches the classic (though rare) Bosiendolpher (spelling?). I love this Key board!
My only tip to make this product better is to provide a new user DVD although the tech support seems adequate. I've not tried it in the recording studio yet, but playing live each week on a wornout sound system, this thing still rocks the house! Do yourselves a favor: beg, borrow, or steal to do whatever you must to pony up the cash for this board. If you are a serious musician, this is a must. It can make even an average musician such as myself sound really, really good!
Ease of Use:
The manuel is a bit wordy, however; for manuels, it HAS been the easiest to digest. I'm still learning the interface, so I can't accurately tell how easy it is to modify sounds to my preference. But getting sounds from this product are awesome. Getting sounds FOR this product...I am still struggling to find sounds that I'm searching for but...perhaps I still don't know where to look.
Support:
Very friendly and nice. Very knowledgeable.
Overall:
Until it stops sounding good or they create the MSX 9, and I'd only buy that one if it was a bit easier to use. As long as the sound quality is this good, it will be my primasry "home" board.
