"Most overrated synth in existence - get the ES"
Feature:Standard for this class.
Quality:
Pretty solid
Value:
Look at the price. Ridiculous
Desirability:
Decent. ES series better
Sound:
Pretty good sound, but most presets awash in cheap Yamaha effects. Some instruments are very good, many are crap you could never put in a mix. These are mostly recycled sounds from all of Yamaha's other instruments
Ease of Use:
Nightmare to use if you're going to sequence with it. ES series 100x better and easier to use. The display on the XS has a horrible glare. You can barely see it in a lighted room
Support:
Pretty much non existent.. must get user support
Overall:
too expensive, bad glare, screen is poorly organized, too much focus on gimmicks to liven up instruments and not enough on new sounds, unit weighs a TON, no UNDO button, adds pretty much zero value over the ES. Good luck finding an ES for sale. No one is selling theirs. Which means no one is upgrading. Yamaha failed miserably with the XS .. color is ugly too
