"Yamaha MSR400 speakers .... perfect sound solution."
Feature:No accessories apart from power cable provided. There are a number of inputs on the back which cover most situations. The controls are recessed, I did however manage to break the shaft of one of my level pots in normal transportation, so perhaps they could have been better designed. The front soeaker grille did manage to get dented the first day I took them out, I swore, but pushed back out again after taking the grille off and pushing from the inside.
Quality:
All was cool in powered speaker land, looks tough. I feel confident doing gigs without a backup.
Value:
Cheaper than competing Mackies, but they don't sound as boxy.
Desirability:
erm........sex appeal? I did say that it has a number of different holes......
Sound:
I have been using MSR400's for just over a year now, to DJ to wedding crowds. I have to say that these Yamaha speakers are some of the best I have heard for a long time, IMHO better than the equivalent Mackies (SRM450) They can get shouty if pushed but backing off the top end slightly usually cures this. I use these with Yamaha SW500 active bass bins in larger venues.
Ease of Use:
Plug it in, plug your mixer in to it and off you go. Does it get any easier? Controls are left at mid-detent most of the time unless backing off the top end or boosting the bass.
Support:
Yamaha in the Uk are not that helpful, they never returned any of the phone calls I made to them.
Overall:
My last Yamaha speakers (Passive) lasted 6 years, I expect these will last as long.
