"WITH YAMAHA - YOU LEARN AND PLAY LIKE A PRO"
Sound:
Yes, I am 60 years of age. I play in the church in Vikhroli, Mumbai. I loved this instrument. I am enjoying the live sound that is incorporated in it. Truly it like a workstation. The voices and the styles are amazing. Those listening feel I am playing on a synth. Yes no doubt I am. I must surely admit that it is a workstation. It serves my purpose playing sacred music in church. Both with accompainement and also piano style. I love most of the sections. I basically use the piano and the Choir section. I must say the entire combination is well thought of. In my budget it is of great value. Yamaha can only make this type of products strong with piano type keys (big)Congratulations. I am enjoying. Even my daughter has started learning after hearing the sounds. Keep it up.
Feature:
There were the eliminator (original Yamaha) thats it. I feel for that price all the features are there for your playing and one must utilize it to the optimum. The guitar features are very good. I also like the MD section with music accompainments of songsetc. some of the old songs music is good one can sing along with it by just playing the chords. You need to add Indian percussions and Sitar is there Sarod or tanpura etc. could be added. Let me know if this can be incorporated through CDs. I am not very familiar with Computers and the download etc.
Ease of Use:
I still feel like in India there are very few avenues where peole can get help to acquant themselves with as a matter of fact with any keyboard. Many time some lay people are unacustomed with electronic are unable to get acquanted with your Manual. Therefore it is imperative you have good tutorials. Some of the tutorials are not very clear and not elaborate on many subjects of the keyboard. Many time people do not use even 30% of the keyboard facilities. Therefore for more people to get into Yamaha, it is imperative once your product is launched get on board with good tutorials with explantions of every section and not on piece meal basis or wait till the students come out with some music etc.. Every country should have different parameters of explanation. I am talking about India. All in all the with little knowledge, I could use the product with easy sound modification is not quite easy. Try to give samples of modification on your manual or your site. Your tutorials are not very clear.
Quality:
Yes Yamaha is robust and long lasting, previously I was using Yamaha PSR 520. I used it for over 9 years and I started learning and playing on that amazing piece. I still have it with me in good condition. Yeah Yamaha is a product made to fulfil and made to last. No doubt the product is assembled in China. I quality is good and I am enjoying, it is sliver model I am using it for the last one year. Only let me know your service centres in Mumbai. We have many cheats here who claim they are doing good service. But Yamaha must take once a year free servicing of Keyboards or their products in Mumbai. Just like you do with your other Yamaha product.
Manufacturer Support:
Yes, Yamaha is a brand name. As I have already mentioned about I used to have Yamaha Keyboard PSR 520. My son uses Yamaha bike. In Indian, Mumbai Yamaha is is brand with sound systems etc. My piece is new and I feel its under warranty. I tried to buy this piece from B X furtado, Mumbai, but they did not have this piece for a long time, I waited for more than 2 months moreover, my budget did not provide me to buy a product of Rs.50 or 60 thousand. I brought this piece from one Dealer in Mumbai, fort area near VT. Shalu music system. But as mentioned above to get good and reliable service is difficult. You need to get that done and get it on your manual and also on your websites and let us know through your newletters and emails.
Value:
Yeah, I felt the price was beyond my reach. I paid Rs.40,000/- to Shalu music in the month of November 2008. Since, Christmas was near and I wanted some change in the sound out of my old PSR 520. And Furtardo, was unable to provide me with S 550 on the shelve and it took over 2 months waiting. I had to buy from Shalu Music store, near VT station.
The Wow Factor:
It is really great. Silver is in vogue and most of my friends loved it. My family loved it. I do not know what you mean by sex appeal. The piece is great, sounds great, people enjoy our sacred music and the peoples participation is great hence, I feel the S550 praises God every time my daughter sings and I play. (I am not a pro) Yet I try and knock out the desired beautiful sound required for our hymns in the church.
Overall:
I am very careful with this instrument. I am not a very rich man. I have retired long ago. Music has kept me going. I can never afford to loose this masterpiece. That would definitely end my playing. But if God is kind to me once again YAMAHA is my great choice. I understand Yamaha 2000, Tyros are good. But I would go for a second hand one if ever anything happened to it. I have a dream to buy a good electonic piano (clavi) for my daughter who is leaning piano. She is now a school teacher. I am contented with the place and the music I am playing. If in due course of time. the need for change and money provided I would definately go for a better Yamaha pieces 2000, Tyros you have got so many. Sir today, I cant afford it may be after 3 years. Till then I have S550 the sound of present and future and lasting. I am happy and thats what matters for a musician.
