Sound:

The r16 has nice reverb and the compressor settings are usable.Though the Cubase Le5 reverb is one of the worst I've ever heard. Sounds like your in a rain barrel. But its vst friendly so you can use any vst reverb you like.

Feature:

The R16 has pretty much everything going for it. Except you can't use outboard efx. The thing I like most is the sd storage card. Just pop it out and stick it in your pc, then put your files anywhere you like

Ease of Use:

The manual could be better you have to skip around alot to stay on topic. The inserts could be better explained. But get this thing. if your on a budget like me it does have a wow factor about it. Records eight tracks at once.

Quality:

The feel of the R16 is good. Feels pretty firm and solid but be careful about the input jacks and spray them. I was lucky. Wire pliers! Come on Zoom use better jacks.

Manufacturer Support:

fingers are crossed so far haven't needed them so can't comment.

Value:

Great value compared to similer recorders.

The Wow Factor:

Light weight and the sd card. A real grab and go product.

Overall:

One word for this unit , is nice. It does everything they say it does. Real clean sound, feather light and it does all three things, controller,recorder and interface with the included Cubase Le5. Only one thing that worries me is the input jacks latch on to the quarter inch jacks and don't wanna let go. I pulled a patch cord from its plug trying to get it out. Then had to use wire pliers to get the plug out.Luckily so far it doesn't appear damaged. I sprayed the inputs with electronic cleaner. Hope that will help loosen them up.
