"Zoom R24 is a powerful multitrack tool."

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
I purchased the Zoom R-24 because it was one of the few DAWs in this price range that actually records eight channels simultaneously. Much of our podcasting work is in the area of seminar panels and we have been going a little crazy using two-track recorders with large panels, panning madly to isolate voices for post-production. We just completed principal videography on a panel discussion about wind energy policy that involved six panelists, a moderator, and a handheld wireless mic for audience questions. Everyone got their own channel! We also were called on to provide a mono mix output to drive the house sound system, and it did so flawlessly.
    Ease of Use:
It's a little more artillery than we are used to using, but we will get better at it. We even hope to do some music recording again after many years in the wilderness!

"Kinda close but definitely no cigar."

This reviewer purchased this item from Same Day Music.

    Sound:
As just a high grade field recorder this thing blows all others out of the water as far as bang for bucks. One can easily get good clean recordings right out of the box. The drum machine is decent but nothing to write home about. More than adequate to hold together a demo. The one beef I do have is the way the effects work. They don't work at all in 24 bit 48. The routing is impractical as all get out and if you are not a real gadget head which I am, good luck getting the more elaborate features, sampling, looping, etc. to work at all. The manual causes more confusion than it helps, very poorly written. I predict a lot of returns on this product because of these problems but I intend to keep mine. Being able to get a crystal clear, fat recording in the field and take it home and dump the wave files into your computer seems to be the main purpose the manufacturer had in mind and it does that so well that it is worth the price of admission to me.

    Only had it two days.
    Value:
Good for the bucks but no more than that.
    The Wow Factor:
    I own one.

If my number come in tonight I'll give this away and get a Korg 32 track.
