Apogee
APO ENSEMBLETB

Product Details

The Apogee Ensemble is the first Thunderbolt 2 audio interface to offer superior sound quality, the lowest latency performance and the most comprehensive studio functionality all in one box. Ensemble includes 8 Advanced Stepped Gain(TM) mic preamps, monitor controller functionality including talkback, front panel Guitar I/O, two headphone outputs and digital connectivity for a total of 30 x 34 I/O. Blending acclaimed innovations, groundbreaking new features and an effortless user interface, Ensemble empowers you to capture inspiration when creative lightning strikes.

Guitar I/O

Directly connect your guitars and other instruments to Ensemble using the two front panel 1/4" inputs. The inputs' Class A JFET circuits reproduce the feel and tone of a vintage tube amp for more realistic modeling and add harmonic character to keyboards and other electronic instruments. A "bootstrapping" circuit design provides an ultra-high impedance load to the connected instrument to preserve its tone and high frequency response.Connect your amp to either 1/4" output for effortless re-amping. Dual mode switching allows you to easily record your direct guitar signal while listening through your amp, then play the recorded signal back through your amp to refine amp settings and mic placement. You can also use the Guitar I/O inputs & outputs to insert stomp boxes into your session as an alternative to software plugins. Impedance or level mismatches are not a concern
- these connections were made for any guitar gear.

Analog Inputs

Ensemble features 4 Combo inputs (XLR or 1/4") and 4 XLR inputs for connecting up to 8 microphones or a combination of instruments, external mic preamps, and other analog audio devices. Ensemble's analog inputs now include a line level bypass relay for the purest unity gain signal path to the analog-to-digital converter when the input source is set to line level.

Analog Outputs

Ensemble includes 2 balanced monitor outputs on 1/4" TRS connectors and 8 balanced line outputs on 1 D-Sub 25-pin connector. These outputs can be configured for a wide variety of workflows, whether you're integrating Ensemble with an external console, mixing in the box, or any hybrid of the two.

Headphone Outputs

With the kind of discrete transistor output stage found on power amps, Ensemble's two independently controlled front panel headphone outputs offer more pristine power than ever before. Drive high impedance headphones louder than you'll ever need while maintaining ultra low distortion throughout the level range.

Built-in Microphone

Ensemble features the same high quality built-in mic capsule found in Apogee's ONE for iPad & Mac. Instantly capture your inspirations, keep an audio archive of the session, or record a "crushed room" sound when tracking drums. Most importantly, the built-in mic may be used for talkback.

Analog Inserts

Analog inputs 1 and 2 feature the ability to add a hardware insert between Ensemble's built-in mic preamp and analog-to-digital converter stage. Easily integrate your favorite analog compressor or EQ, in mono or as a stereo pair, into your recording chain with separate balanced send and return connector for each channel.

Digital I/O

As the centerpiece of your creative setup, Ensemble provides up to 18 channels of digital I/O, in ADAT, SMUX, S/PDIF optical and S/PDIF coaxial formats, to easily integrate expanders, hardware synths and digital effects. Thanks to Thunderbolt's high bandwidth, all of Ensemble's analog and digital I/O are available in your DAW simultaneously.

Word Clock

Ensemble provides Word Clock IN and OUT for syncing with other digital audio gear. Use Ensemble as the master clock to take advantage of Apogee's superior built-in clocking technology.

Hybrid of Software and Hardware

Apogee pioneered a simplified user interface that has inspired countless other competitors. This is a hybrid approach
- essential hardware control complemented by comprehensive software control. Ensemble's front panel represents the next level of refinement, offering the perfect balance of dedicated control and flexibility.

Input control with selection buttons and controller knob

Ensemble makes it easy to access all important recording and monitoring functions. Simply press an input selection button on Ensemble's front panel to select a desired input and easily adjust your level with the input controller knob. All input selection buttons feature an LED highlight ring. The highlight ring of the selected input is brighter so you can see at a glance which channel is in focus. Press and hold the input select button to select and adjust different parameters for each channel such as input type, +48v phantom power, Soft Limit, grouping, polarity invert and hi-pass filter.

Dual, high-resolution displays show all input and output details

Two high-resolution OLED displays deliver all the visual feedback critical for recording and monitoring. Without looking at your computer, Ensemble lets you see metering, levels, grouping and polarity, muting, phantom power and Soft Limit for all inputs and outputs.

Monitor/Output Controls

Ensemble's Monitor control provides everything you need to master your listening environment, without additional devices. Choose between the two 1/4" monitor outputs, one of three stereo speaker sets (depending on which is selected) or a 5.1 surround sound system. Set your speaker and headphone levels with dedicated front panel controller knobs, Maestro level controls or your Mac volume controls.

2 Independently Controlled Front Panel Headphone Outputs and Controls

With the kind of discrete transistor output stage found on power amps, Ensemble's two independently controlled front panel headphone outputs offer more pristine power than ever before. Drive high impedance headphones louder than you'll ever need while maintaining ultra low distortion throughout the level range.

Assignable Buttons

Four configurable buttons (labeled A, B, C, D) allow you to quickly access functions such as "Engage Talkback", "Mute Outputs", "Dim Outputs", "Sum to Mono", "Clear Meters" or "Engage Speaker Set". Each function can be assigned to a button using a drop-down menu within Apogee's Maestro application.

Talkback

When asked to identify his favorite microphone, one savvy producer answered "the talkback mic!" Effortless communication enhances the flow of your session, so Ensemble includes flexible and convenient talkback functionality. Use either Ensemble's Built-in microphone or an external mic to communicate directly with the recording performers through both headphone and line outputs. Engage talkback from Maestro or from the front panel Assignable buttons. No other audio interface offers such a comprehensive talkback system.

Speaker Set Selection

Ensemble's assignable buttons can be configured in Apogee's Maestro software to switch between up to 3 pairs of speakers, allowing you to use Ensemble just like a standard monitor controller. Simply connect 1, 2 or 3 pairs of studio monitors and press the corresponding assignable button (A, B, C or D) to select which pair you would like to listen to.

When will I receive my shipment?

We ship on business days (Saturday, Sunday, and holidays are not business days). Packages ship from Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, or Ohio -- we cannot guarantee that any product will ship from a specific warehouse. Expedited Shipping (1-Day Air and 2-Day Air) is the only way to guarantee that you will receive an item within a certain time frame. Delivery estimates for expedited shipping options are listed on the product page for the item in question. All expedited shipments are delivered Monday-Friday.

Ground Shipping typically takes 1-4 business days from the date of shipment (for orders within the 48 contiguous United States). Residential ground and Free 2-Day shipments are delivered Tuesday-Saturday. Commercial ground and Free 2-Day shipments are delivered Monday-Friday. Make sure to select the proper address type for your address in checkout, as delays may occur if your selection is incorrect.

For APO/FPO customers, all orders ship via USPS. Expedited shipping is not available. Tracking for these orders is not available.

For customers shipping to a PO Box, the order may need to be shipped via USPS. For this reason, expected delivery dates cannot be guaranteed.

Do you ship to my location?

For most products shipping to the continental United States, customers may choose Ground, 2-Day Air, or 1-Day Air delivery. We also ship to Alaska and Hawaii; however, due to carrier restrictions, we cannot ground-ship to those states.

In addition, we ships to the following destinations, though some restrictions apply:

  • Canada
  • Puerto Rico
  • APO/FPO
  • U.S. Territories

See instructions below for how to search the site by our eligible shipping destinations.

Note: We cannot change a shipping address on an order after it has shipped. If an order is returned because it couldn't be received at the listed shipping address, we will accept the return but will not refund the shipping charges.

Canada

We ship a lot of our most popular gear to Canada! To determine if item(s) ship to Canada, add the item(s) to your cart and enter your shipping postal code. Items that ship to Canada are sent via International Air, and delivery is typically 2-5 business days from the date of shipment.

Canadian orders are charged in U.S. dollars. Actual charges are dependent on your bank's conversion rate. Your bank may assess additional fees for international orders.

Although items shipped to Canada receive their full factory warranty, they must be returned to a United States service center for repairs. We're not responsible for any shipping or customs fees incurred in such a case.

Puerto Rico

We ship many items to Puerto Rico. To determine if item(s) ship to Puerto Rico, add the item(s) to your cart and enter your shipping zip code. Eligible items ship via International Air, and typically arrive 2-5 business days from the date of shipment.

APO/FPO

We ship to APO/FPO addresses for free, though over-sized items may be ineligible. To determine if item(s) ship to your APO/FPO address, add the item(s) to your cart and enter your shipping zip code.

U.S. Territories

We ship eligible products to American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Marshall Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, and the Virgin Islands. Eligible items typically arrive 2-7 business days from the date of shipment.

What about customs fees?

Please be aware of customs fees such as taxes and duties, which are not included in our shipping charges. Customs fees vary from location to location. Please check with your local customs office for more information on the fees in your area. If you refuse to pay these fees, your order will not be delivered. We cannot refund shipping charges if an item is returned due to refusal to pay fees, and a restocking fee may be applied to cover the cost of return shipping. Customs fees are non-refundable.

Which items ship immediately?

Most orders ship the same business day your order is placed when you place a valid order before the shipping deadline.

Immediate shipment is available Monday-Friday. A valid order placed before 5 p.m. EST will ship the same day when using Ground or Free 2-Day shipping. Ground and Free 2-Day shipping orders placed after 5 p.m. EST will ship the next business day. Many orders using an expedited shipping method (2 Day Air or Next Day Air), and placed before 10 p.m. EST, will ship the same day.

Shipment and availability information updates from our warehouse to our website almost in real time. We are highly confident of the status of each item when you view a page. However, we do not reserve inventory being viewed or even placed in shopping carts, so we cannot guarantee an item's availability until you have placed your order. In particular, if you have been in the checkout area for more than about 10 minutes, we do recommend that you refresh the page to get the most current inventory prior to checking out.

What is a valid order?

A valid order is for a valid item at a valid price, placed with a credit card with complete and verifiable address and other information. Details.

Does immediate shipment mean immediate delivery?

Once an order is shipped, our carriers (Federal Express and UPS) typically guarantee a service time for when the order will be delivered to you. Our carriers have a very good record of delivering at their promised service time. We will ship immediately, and on all items, we will refund expedited shipping charges if the carrier's service levels for your chosen shipping method are not met.

If a product is in stock, is there any reason it will not ship immediately?

Exceptions are very unusual, but here are some examples of reasons that might prevent us from shipping immediately:

  • Warehouse, call center, or web operations lose power or telecom connectivity.
  • Warehouse, call center, or web operations lose capability due to adverse weather (blizzard), safety threat, or other factors.

What can I do if I don't feel you've lived up to your guarantees?
