Overview
The Taylor 214ce-K acoustic-electric guitar brings together beautiful Hawaiian koa and Sitka spruce into Taylor's much-beloved Grand Auditorium body shape. The sound is bold yet balanced -- and sounds equally great through its onboard Expression System 2 pickup system. Its thick body has a voice with excellent range and throw. The 214ce-K model also features a distinctive Venetian-style cutaway. If you're considering a Taylor 214ce guitar and want an instrument that stands a bit apart from the rest, the Koa edition is a great choice.Hawaiian Koa Wood: Functional Art
The beautiful and complex grain of the layered Hawaiian koa on the 214ce-K's back and sides yields an aesthetic that is both organic and exotic. The light finish brings out the natural beauty of the wood and shines dramatically under the stage lights. Each guitar in the Taylor Koa series was designed by Bob Taylor to be "a functional piece of art," and his craftsmanship is unquestionably the product of a great artisan.Ready For The Grandest Auditoriums
The body on the Taylor 214ce-K is a full-size Grand Auditorium style. This is Taylor's most popular body shape, combining the 4.625-inch depth of a Dreadnought and the slightly deeper side curves of a Grand Concert. Combining elements from these two styles, the Grand Auditorium body proves equally versatile to strumming and fingerpicking styles. It has a warm but unobtrusive low end, balanced perfectly to its super clear midrange. The 214ce-K is 16 inches across at its widest point with a 25.5-inch scale neck length.Let's You Get Up There
The "C" in the 214ce-K's name refers to the quasi-Venetian-style cutaway in the body. Unique to Taylor's 200 series, the cutaway allows comfortable access to at least the 17th fret.Custom Onboard Electronics
Taylor's Expression System 2 pickup is a totally proprietary Taylor design -- not to be confused with Taylor's original ES system designed with Rupert Neve. The Expression System 2 on this instrument is result of extensive development on Taylor's own behalf, and an audibly successful innovation in acoustic pickup design. It is a single-source piezo transducer located under the saddle. The Expression System 2 pickup has a true powered preamp with active controls, and includes highly musical Bass and Treble EQ knobs, as well a master Volume control. The amplifier also has a Phase switch, accessible via the soundhole, to give you more control over feedback occurring between monitors and amps. The Phase switch can also be used simply to achieve a different tone.Features:
